Cushman & Wakefield | Commercial Kentucky Gives Back – Center for Women & Families #CKCares

Over the last 45 years, Cushman & Wakefield | Commercial Kentucky has made a mark on Louisville.  As part of the celebration of our 45th Anniversary this year, our firm would like to bring some much-deserved attention to some local charities that are also making a mark on our community.  Each month, we will spotlight one of these charities via our social media as part of our “45 Things” giving back campaign.  Our employees will be collecting needed items for these twelve local organizations and we hope that once you know the tremendous good they are doing here in Louisville, you will do what you can to help these organizations, too!

August’s worthy organization is THE CENTER FOR WOMEN & FAMILIES.  Since 1912 (when they were the YMCA) to 1989 (when they morphed into The Center for Women and Families), this organization has helped literally hundreds of thousands of Louisvillians with a variety of supportive services.  Their clients are individuals and their dependents who have been affected by intimate partner violence and sexual assault.  The Center operates a crisis phone line which provides safety planning and assistance 24 hours/day, 365 days/year.  They also operate an emergency shelter and transitional housing units.  The Center works with clients to address immediate and long-term emotional, physical and mental effects of the abuse they have experienced and they provide assistance to help clients reduce risk factors, cultivate resiliency factors and take steps to lead empowered lives.  Through legal advocacy, community education and cooperative partnerships, the impact of The Center for Women & Families is significant in the Louisville area.  There is no denying that they are “partners for good.”

This month our staff has been collecting school supplies for the back-to-school kids at The Center for Women & Families.  With so much else going on in their lives, it’s important for these kids to have the normalcy and routine of getting back to school.  Having the tools to learn and create will help them in so many ways.  Of course, all of that goes a long way towards healing their mothers, too.  We are proud to give to an organization who works so tirelessly to help the most vulnerable among us.
